The KELKKAAM Suicide Prevention Campaign continued its UK outreach programme on 26th May 2026 joining with a community Soup Kitchen initiative in Croydon, supported by several local businesses and volunteers.
The event on 26th May was led by Father Davis Chiramel, who is currently visiting the UK as part of the KELKKAAM Suicide Prevention Campaign UK 2026. Volunteers and supporters came together to serve food and interact with members of the local community, reflecting the campaign’s core values of compassion, care and human connection.
Organisers said the initiative was not only about providing meals, but also about listening, supporting and reaching out to people who may be experiencing loneliness or emotional difficulties.
KELKKAAM meaning “Let’s Listen” in Malayalam, is a growing global movement promoting suicide prevention, emotional wellbeing and mental health awareness within the Malayali diaspora and wider communities.
The Croydon programme took place ahead of today’s KELKKAAM Charity Walk in London, where supporters gathered to walk from Tower Bridge to Parliament Square alongside Father Davis Chiramel in solidarity with those affected by suicide and mental health struggles.
Participants described the walk as a powerful public statement calling for greater awareness, openness and support for individuals facing emotional crises.
The KELKKAAM campaign is also appealing for volunteers across the UK to help build a community support and signposting network aimed at connecting people with counselling and support services before they reach breaking point.
Organisers reiterated the campaign’s central message: “One conversation. One act of listening. One life saved.”
