The Malayalee Association of the UK (MAUK) is pleased to announce that nominations for the MAUK Awards 2026 are now open. This prestigious platform recognises distinguished individuals and organisations who make noteworthy contributions to the Malayalee community worldwide.
Scheduled as part of MAUK Ponnonam 2026 on 12 September 2026 at Eastbury School, Barking, this year’s awards will recognise achievements across diverse sectors, including leadership, business, volunteering, arts and culture, education, and community service.
Building on its tradition of celebrating excellence, the MAUK Awards seek to highlight those whose dedication, leadership and efforts continue to influence our community positively. Initiated as part of MAUK’s 50 Years of Registration celebrations in 2025, the awards reflect the organisation’s long-standing commitment to community development and cultural enrichment. Last year’s recipients were honoured in the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Shri Vikram Dooraswami, High Commissioner of India; Sir Stephen Timms, Member of UK Parliament for East Ham and Minister of State for Social Security and Disability; Shri Rajmohan Unnithan, Member of Lok Sabha, India; and Uma Kumaran, Member of UK Parliament, among others. Equally esteemed guests will also present the 2026 awards.
Nominations are now officially open, inviting members of the public to suggest deserving individuals and organisations whose inspiring stories have made meaningful contributions.
A spokesperson from MAUK said: “The MAUK Awards are about recognising the quiet achievers, the changemakers, and the leaders within our community who often go unnoticed. We encourage everyone to come forward and celebrate those who are making a real difference.”
Shortlisted nominees will be honoured at a distinguished ceremony during the MAUK Ponnonam festivities, bringing together community members, leaders, and partners for an evening of acknowledgement and inspiration.
