Two Major Events Planned Under the Theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”
The High Commission of India in London has extended a warm invitation to the Indian diaspora, friends of India and the wider public to participate in the celebrations marking the 12th International Day of Yoga this June.
This year’s global theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” highlights the important role yoga can play in promoting physical wellbeing, mental health and active lifestyles throughout all stages of life.
To mark the occasion, the High Commission has organised two special events in central London, bringing together yoga enthusiasts, families, community organisations and supporters of Indian culture and heritage.

A Global Movement
Since the United Nations adopted International Day of Yoga in 2014, the annual celebration has grown into a worldwide movement promoting the benefits of yoga for health, harmony and wellbeing.
Observed in more than 190 countries, International Day of Yoga has become one of the largest global public health and wellness initiatives, bringing together people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Building on the Success of Previous Years
Last year’s International Day of Yoga celebrations in London attracted large numbers of participants from across the UK. Community groups, yoga practitioners, students, healthcare professionals and diplomats joined together in a spirit of unity and wellbeing.
The event showcased yoga’s ability to transcend cultural and national boundaries while promoting healthy lifestyles and mental resilience.
Organisers hope that this year’s programme will attract even greater participation, particularly as awareness grows about the importance of healthy ageing and preventative healthcare.
Open to Everyone
The celebrations are open to people of all ages and levels of experience, from seasoned practitioners to those wishing to try yoga for the first time.
Participants are encouraged to register in advance using the online registration form provided by the High Commission of India.
