Father Davis Chiramel to Lead KELKKAAM Suicide Prevention Campaign Across Britain and Charity Walk in London

Kelkkaam, Malayalam for “Let’s Listen”, has emerged as a compassionate global movement dedicated to suicide prevention, emotional support and mental wellbeing. What began as a simple message of listening and empathy is now growing into an international initiative reaching Malayali communities around the world.

In 2026, the KELKKAAM movement arrives in the United Kingdom with renewed urgency and purpose, led by renowned philanthropist, humanitarian and social activist Father Davis Chiramel.

The KELKKAAM Suicide Prevention Campaign UK 2026 aims to address one of the most painful and often unspoken realities facing communities today – loneliness, emotional distress, mental health struggles and suicide.

A Growing Concern Within the Community

There are now more than 500,000 Keralites living across the UK — nurses, doctors, carers, families, entrepreneurs and professionals contributing enormously to British society. Yet behind many success stories are silent personal struggles that often go unnoticed.

According to UK statistics, more than 7,000 people die by suicide every year. Tragically, members of the Kerala community are among them.

KELKKAAM seeks to change this by building a culture where people feel heard, supported and connected before reaching a point of crisis.

The campaign carries one simple but powerful message:

“One call before a crisis can save a life.”

Father Davis Chiramel’s UK Visit

Father Davis Chiramel will visit the UK from 25 May to 11 June 2026 to officially launch the campaign and participate in awareness events across the country.

Widely respected for his humanitarian work in India, Father Davis is the founder of a kidney foundation and has dedicated decades to charitable causes, social welfare and community service. His visit is expected to inspire conversations around mental health, compassion and community responsibility.

During his UK tour, Father Davis will attend public gatherings and awareness programmes in:

  • London
  • Birmingham
  • Manchester
  • Bristol
  • Southampton

KELKKAAM Charity Walk in London

One of the major highlights of the campaign will be the KELKKAAM Charity Walk through central London.

📅 Wednesday, 27 May 2026

📍 Tower Bridge to Parliament Square

⏰ 6:00 PM

Participants will walk alongside Father Davis Chiramel in solidarity with every life lost to suicide and every life that can still be saved through timely support and human connection.

Organisers describe the walk as a visible and powerful statement to the wider public and to Parliament that the Kerala community is prepared to openly address mental health challenges affecting its people.

Building a Nationwide Volunteer Network

KELKKAAM is now calling for signposting volunteers across the UK to help build a compassionate support network within the community.

The campaign hopes to recruit 1,000 KELKKAAM signposting volunteers who can help connect individuals in distress with nearby trained counsellors, support services and community contacts.

Volunteers are not expected to become therapists, but rather caring first points of contact who can guide someone towards help and ensure that no individual feels isolated during difficult times.

How You Can Support the Campaign

Community members are encouraged to:

  • Join the charity walk in London on 27 May
  • Volunteer with the KELKKAAM team
  • Attend local awareness events
  • Share the campaign message with friends and family
  • Help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health discussions
  • Save the campaign contact number in their phone

KELKKAAM’s message remains simple yet deeply important:

“One call. One conversation. One life saved. Let’s listen.”
