Former MP Martyn Day has been selected by the Scottish National Party (SNP) as their candidate for the Falkirk East and Linlithgow constituency in next May’s Scottish Parliament elections.

Mr Day formally launched the London leg of his campaign at the Elephant and Barrel, a stylish independent pub on Lillie Road, West Kensington, where he was joined by friends, supporters and fellow SNP figures.

Martyn Day served as the MP for Linlithgow and East Falkirk from 2015 to 2024, and before that as a West Lothian councillor. During his parliamentary tenure he was the SNP’s spokesperson for health. He lost his seat to Scottish Labour in the 2024 general election.

Also in attendance was Seamus Logan MP, who represents Aberdeenshire North and Moray East at Westminster. Mr Logan addressed the gathering and reaffirmed his strong support for Mr Day’s Holyrood campaign.

Speaking at the event, Martyn Day said:
“I am delighted to be selected as the SNP candidate for Falkirk East and Linlithgow. I look forward to the opportunity to continue serving the community.”

The event was coordinated by Nidhin Chand, Martyn Day’s partner, a Malayalee from Pampakuda in Ernakulam district. Martyn, often affectionately described by the community as the “son-in-law of Kerala” because of this connection, received warm support from UK Malayalees who attended the launch.
