Mary Yohannan (82), mother of London-based solicitor Adv. Paul John—owner of the renowned London law firm Paul John Solicitors—passed away on Thursday. She belonged to the Kakkamveettil family in Puthencruz.
She is the wife of P.C. Yohannan (Retired Post Master). Children: Adv. Paul C. John (London), Sibi Thomas (USA), and Dr. Seba C. John (Bengaluru). Daughters-in-law: Catherine Malini (UK) and Dr. K.J. Vinoy of Kalarickal Parambil. Grandchildren: Lorraine Minna John, Milan Dia John, and Sandra Binoy.
Mary Yohannan had been undergoing treatment for age-related health issues at her residence near Puthencruz. Her condition worsened yesterday, and although efforts were made to take her to hospital, she passed away on the way.
She served for many years in the Kerala Government Health Department and retired as a Nursing Superintendent. After retirement, she lived a peaceful life in Puthencruz with her husband. She had also visited the UK several times to spend time with her son Adv. Paul John.
On social media, Adv. Paul John paid a heartfelt tribute to his mother:
“I hold deep gratitude for the way she moved through this world — her faith, her kindness, her compassion, and her boundless love for every person she met. No one ever stepped into our home without being embraced by her warmth and generous hospitality, and they always returned for the love and flavour she poured into every meal.
I won’t say she’s truly gone, because her presence lives on within us — in our hearts, in our memories, and in the radiant example she set. She remains our guiding light, a living model of love in its purest and most gracious form.”
The funeral will took place on Friday, 21 November 2025, at 4:00 pm at St. Peter’s & St. Paul’s Jacobite Syrian Church, Puthencruz.
