IndiGo Launches First Direct Long-Haul Service Between Mumbai and Manchester

In a major boost for India–UK connectivity, IndiGo, India’s largest airline, has commenced its first-ever direct long-haul service between Mumbai and Manchester, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s international expansion strategy.

The new service, inaugurated on 1 July 2025, will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with enhanced onboard amenities. IndiGo becomes the only airline currently offering direct connectivity between India and Manchester, opening new avenues for business travellers, tourists, students, and the Indian diaspora in the UK.

The launch is expected to strengthen economic, educational, and cultural ties between Mumbai, India’s financial capital, and Manchester, a key economic hub in Northern England. This direct route will provide a seamless travel experience, reducing travel times and eliminating layovers for passengers travelling between the two cities.

IndiGo’s internationalisation strategy, “Towards New Heights and Across New Frontiers,” aligns with India’s growing global engagement and the rising travel demand from the Indian community in the UK.

Flight details:

  • Mumbai to Manchester (6E 0031): Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays
  • Manchester to Mumbai (6E 0032): Return on the same days

The service is expected to further enhance opportunities for trade, investment, and tourism between the UK and India.
