LOGOS 2025: Empowering Youth Through Faith – The Indian Orthodox Vision

On February 1, 2025, the Orthodox Christian Youth Movement (OCYM) of the Diocese of UK, Europe, and Africa hosted the much-anticipated LOGOS 2025 Youth Conference at St. Margaret Pattens Church, Eastcheap, London. With the theme “Glad to Be Here,” the event brought together young people, spiritual leaders, and notable dignitaries for a day of inspiration, reflection, and togetherness.

Keynote Address by Virendra Sharma

The highlight of the day was the keynote speech by Mr. Virendra Sharma, former Member of Parliament and President of the Indian Workers’ Association (IWA). Sharing his journey from humble beginnings to a distinguished career in public service, Mr. Sharma encouraged the youth to hold firmly to their faith, remain law-abiding citizens, and embrace their responsibilities to society. His heartfelt words struck a chord with the audience, emphasizing the importance of resilience and moral values in navigating life’s challenges.

A Day of Meaningful Engagement

The event followed a meticulously planned agenda that combined spiritual growth, professional development, and community bonding.

  • Morning Sessions:
    The day began with registration and breakfast, followed by an opening prayer led by Fr. PJ Binu Achen, President of OCYM and Vicar of the parish. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr. Sharma, who officially launched the conference. A group photo inside the church captured the spirit of the gathering.
  •  The theme of the event, inspired by St. Matthew 17:4, “Lord, it is good that we are here,” was elaborated upon by Fr. Mobin Achen, Vicar of Holy Trinity IOC Crawley. His talk encouraged participants to recognize the value of being present in faith and community.
  • Interactive Activities and Developmental Sessions:
    The icebreaking activities, facilitated by the LOGOS activities team, set a lively and collaborative tone. Participants then engaged in a session on professional and personal development, with talks by Mr. Ashok Mathew and Dr. Alex Ittycheria on career guidance, networking strategies, and the importance of community engagement.
  • Afternoon Highlights:
    The afternoon began with a shared noon prayer and a lunch break, offering opportunities for informal networking. Fr. Jeeson P. Wilson, OCYM Diocese Vice President, moderated a session on “Building Christ-Centered Relationships in a Modern World.” This was followed by small group discussions that encouraged reflection and collective learning.

  • London Sightseeing:
    A guided tour to the Sky Garden provided a refreshing break, allowing participants to marvel at the panoramic views of London while engaging in moments of reflection and photography.

Closing Ceremony

The conference concluded with a closing ceremony and benediction, during which Camila Aji, OCYM Unit Vice President, delivered the vote of thanks. Her heartfelt remarks acknowledged the efforts of all contributors and emphasized the importance of continuing such meaningful initiatives.

A Testament to Youth Leadership and Faith

LOGOS 2025 was a resounding success, uniting the youth in a shared journey of faith, self-improvement, and community engagement. The event highlighted the Orthodox Christian Youth Movement’s mission to inspire young minds through worship, study, and service.
