Sruthi UK, a distinguished non-profit organization, is gearing up to host its 19th annual day, a vibrant celebration of Kerala’s rich art, culture, and literature, at the Queen Margaret’s School for Girls in York on the 6th of April.
Founded in 2005 by a group of passionate individuals hailing from Kerala and residing in the UK, Sruthi has been actively promoting the essence of Kerala’s artistic and literary heritage among the Malayali diaspora in the United Kingdom. Over the years, Sruthi’s annual events have evolved in both quality and popularity, drawing enthusiasts from diverse ethnic backgrounds.
The event promises a captivating display of cultural prowess, featuring performances in dance, music, and drama by Sruthi’s dedicated members. These individuals, driven by their firm commitment, often travel long distances to attend rehearsals across various locations in the UK to deliver a high-caliber program.
The highlight of this year’s annual day will be the presence of two distinguished guests—renowned music director Sri Vidyadharan Master and acclaimed theatre artist Sri Gireesan Sopanam. Sri Vidyadharan Master, a notable leader in music composition and playback singing, celebrates an impressive 60-year career.
Adding to the splendour to the event, Sri Gireesan Sopanam, recipient of the Kendra Sangeetha Nataka Academy Award, will grace the occasion with a soul-stirring solo theatre performance titled ‘Antharyami,’ directed by the venerable Sri Kavalam Narayana Panicker.
The annual day will not only showcase the talents of Sruthi’s in-house performers in music, dance, and drama but also provide the audience with a rare opportunity to delve into the illustrious musical journey of Sri Vidyadharan Master, spanning nearly five decades.
