The Malayalee Association of the UK (MAUK) is pleased to announce Vidyarambham 2025, a special initiation into the world of arts through new batches in Bharathanatyam, Chenda Melam, and Kalaripayattu.
Traditionally, Vidyarambham is an initiation ceremony performed before a child begins formal education. The ritual, dedicated to Saraswati, the goddess of learning, is observed on the final day of Navratri and is considered an auspicious start to the lifelong pursuit of knowledge. In Kerala, children are gently guided to write their first letters as part of this sacred tradition.
Building on this heritage, MAUK’s Arts Vidyarambham introduces young learners not only to letters but also to Kerala’s treasured art forms. This symbolic beginning nurtures creativity, discipline, and cultural pride among children and the wider community.
