The Malayalee Association of the UK (MAUK) is once again preparing to host its much-anticipated annual Onasadhya, bringing the true essence of Kerala’s harvest festival to London. Scheduled for Sunday, 6 September 2026 at the Ravidasia Community Centre in Manor Park (E12 6BN), this year’s celebration promises to be as heartwarming and unique as ever.
What Makes MAUK Onasadhya Special?
For decades, MAUK has maintained a distinct approach to celebrating Onam, setting their event apart through a deep commitment to tradition and community:
-
Authentic, Home-Cooked Quality: Rejecting restaurant-outsourced catering, MAUK volunteers—guided by MAUK Elders—prepare all main dishes from scratch on the premises at Kerala House and the venue.
-
Decades-Long Heritage: Since the early 1970s, this annual gathering has served as a cornerstone for UK Malayalees to connect over shared meals and cultural heritage.
-
Philanthropic Impact: Operating strictly on a non-profit basis, the event doubles as a fundraiser. For every Sadhya served in the UK, MAUK extends an equal number of meals to vulnerable children and elders in Kerala through charitable outreach.
-
Bringing People Together: Over 300 guests, including members of the wider UK Malayalee diaspora and local communities, unite annually to celebrate the festivities.
