The Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) UK Kerala Chapter has launched its campaign activities in connection with the upcoming Assembly elections next year in Kerala. The event, held in London, was inaugurated by Irikkoor MLA and former KPCC General Secretary Sajeev Joseph, who was the chief guest.

In his inaugural address, Sajeev Joseph strongly criticised the BJP-led Central Government, alleging that it was “running the country through divisive and communal politics, undermining democratic institutions and tarnishing the secular fabric of the nation.”

He commended the Non-Resident Keralites (NRKs) for their continued contributions to Kerala’s development, describing them as “the enduring strength of Kerala” whose commitment enriches the state’s social and cultural life.

Sajeev Joseph also assured the gathering that he would take the initiative to discuss with party leadership the inclusion of returning IOC office-bearers in the Congress organisational structure, recognising their valuable experience and service abroad.

The event marked the beginning of campaign activities for the 2026 Kerala Legislative Assembly election, which is expected to be held before May 2026 to elect 140 Members of the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly.
