Inji, the acclaimed South Indian restaurant inspired by the vibrant flavours of Kerala, has won the Best South Asian Restaurant of the Year at the prestigious 8th Midlands Food, Drink & Hospitality Awards.
The annual awards, held last week, celebrate excellence across the Midlands hospitality sector, recognising venues and professionals who have made a significant impact. Inji, founded just over a year ago, has quickly become a destination for authentic yet contemporary South Indian dining, combining family recipes with a modern approach.
“This award means so much to our entire team,” said the owner of Inji. “We opened with a vision to bring something unique to the Midlands—food rooted in South Indian tradition but reimagined in a contemporary way. We’re grateful to our guests and the local community who have supported us since day one.”
Head Chef Nithin added:
“Every dish at Inji is a celebration of the diverse flavours of Kerala, from our seafood specials to our house-made chutneys. This recognition inspires us to keep pushing the boundaries.”
Winners at the Midlands Food, Drink & Hospitality Awards are chosen through a combination of public votes and industry judging, making it one of the most respected accolades in the region. This year’s ceremony brought together hundreds of chefs, restaurateurs, and hospitality leaders to honour the best in the sector.
Inji’s team are looking ahead to an exciting year, with plans for seasonal tasting menus and collaborations with local producers. Located on Birmingham Road, Sutton Coldfield, the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner.
