The St. George’s Indian Orthodox Church Cricket and Chess Tournament ended on a high note on 25th August 2025 at Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club, with the host parish, St. George’s IOC, City of London, claiming a well-deserved cricket victory. The day brought together parishes from across the UK, blending spirited competition with vibrant community celebration.

Cricket Triumphs

In a nail-biting contest, St. George’s IOC, City of London, emerged as champions, while Holy Trinity IOC, Crawley, secured the runner-up spot. Exceptional performances were recognised with special awards:

  • Best Batsman: Arun Issac (Holy Trinity IOC, Crawley)

  • Best Bowler: Abin Roy (St. George’s IOC, City of London)

Chess Highlights

The day wasn’t just about cricket. The chess competition showcased strategic brilliance, with Elizabeth Mathai (City of London) crowned winner and Joe Malakeel (City of London) as runner-up.
