
The in the UK hosted a warm and vibrant Christmas Reception at The Nehru Centre, London, bringing together members of the diplomatic corps, community leaders and guests in a spirit of celebration and goodwill.
The festive evening was marked by High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami, along with H.E. Archbishop Miguel Maury Buendía, Apostolic Nuncio to the Court of St James’s, ceremonially switching on the Christmas lights and cutting the celebratory cake. Adding a touch of delight, a surprise appearance by Santa Claus brought smiles and cheer to the gathering.
Addressing the audience, the High Commissioner highlighted India’s inclusive tradition of celebrating festivals, noting that such occasions bring communities together, encourage reflection and gratitude for the year gone by, and inspire hope, light and optimism for the year ahead.

The cultural highlight of the evening was a spellbinding performance by the Shillong Chamber Choir, founded by the late visionary Neil Nongkynrih. Their soulful and uplifting rendition beautifully captured the essence of the Christmas season and was warmly appreciated by the audience.

The reception reflected India’s rich cultural diversity and its message of harmony, reinforcing the High Commission’s commitment to fostering people-to-people ties and shared celebrations in the UK.
