Gurujayanthi, Mahasamadhi & Onam Celebrations at Sree Narayana Guru Mission, London

The Sree Narayana Guru Mission of the UK is proud to host the “Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi” celebration, marking the 171st birth anniversary of the revered Indian spiritual leader, philosopher, and social reformer. The event will take place at the Mission Centre, 16 Barking Road, London, on 7th September 2025, starting at 3:00 PM.

This year’s celebration promises to be a vibrant tribute to Guru’s enduring message of equality, education, and spiritual enlightenment. The event will be graced by Rt Hon Sir Stephen Timms, Minister of State for the Department of Work and Pensions, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Alex Gath, a respected academic and social commentator, will deliver the keynote address.

A rich cultural programme will highlight the evening, including:

  • HOMECOMING – A short play presented by Guruprabha, scripted and directed by youth member Sonya Arun, showcasing the creative spirit of the younger generation within SNGMUK.
  • “Guruvandanam”, a musical play directed by Sasi S Kulamada, offering a soulful homage to the Guru’s teachings.
  • Thiruvathira, a traditional dance performed by Guruprabha’s dance group.
  • A variety of music and dance performances celebrating the cultural heritage and unity inspired by Sree Narayana Guru.

This annual event not only honours the life and teachings of Sree Narayana Guru but also brings together the UK’s diverse community in a spirit of harmony and reflection.

97th Mahasamadhi Remembrance Day (സമാധി ദിനാചരണം) 

The Sree Narayana Guru Mission UK will mark the 97th Mahasamadhi Remembrance Day of Sree Narayana Guru on Sunday, 21st September 2025, from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm at the Mission Centre, 16 Barking Road, East Ham (E6 3BP).

The programme will begin with Puja and Homam from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon, conducted by the GDP Team. This will be followed by a reflection session from 12.00 pm to 12.30 pm, led by Tanmaya, Swami of Narayana Gurukula, Varkala. A short remembrance talk will then be delivered by the GDP team (12.30 pm – 12.45 pm).

The event will also feature a musical presentation based on the Guru’s works, performed by local artists, creating a devotional and reflective atmosphere.

The organisers invite everyone to join this special day of reflection and self-inquiry, encouraging participants to contemplate Guru’s timeless questions: “What aspect of Guru’s message have we understood, and how do we apply it in our daily life?”

In addition, Mahasamadhi Special Poojas will be held at the Mission Centres in East Ham and Croydon at 10.00 am and 6.00 pm.

Onasadya in Croydon and East Ham Centres

Croydon and East Ham Centres will host the much-awaited Onasadya (traditional Kerala vegetarian feast) — a time for fellowship and celebration.
