The British South India Council of Commerce (BSICC) and the Kerala Business Forum warmly welcome the appointment of the Rt Hon David Lammy MP as the new Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations and look forward to working closely with him in strengthening business, cultural, and community links between the UK and South India.
Mr Lammy has long shown a genuine interest in Kerala and its people. In 2018, he visited Kerala with his wife, on a trip arranged by BSICC Director Pius John Kunnacherry and TourFinder’s Bobby Antony.

During this visit, he met with state leaders, business representatives, and community leaders, including the Syro-Malabar Bishop. His warm reception in Kerala left a lasting impression, and he continues to speak fondly of his time there.
As an MP, Mr Lammy’s openness to international engagement and his appreciation of South India’s rich cultural and economic contributions have been well recognised. His new role provides a strong platform to deepen UK–India partnerships, particularly in trade, education, and cultural exchange.
The BSICC and Kerala Business Forum are confident that under his leadership as Deputy Prime Minister, collaboration with South India will flourish further, creating new opportunities for businesses and communities on both sides.
We wish Mr Lammy every success in his new role and look forward to working with him in promoting South India’s dynamic potential in the UK and beyond.
